RailsConf: RYRA, how'd it go?

In regards to the tutorial on Refactoring Your Rails Application, how you felt the talk went?

I’ll post more later with slides and links for the downloadable code.

The material was good and I felt I learned things (some about refactoring, some just Ruby/Rails).

I think the presentation needs some work. I would suggest starting with the definitions, then carefully reintroducing them when you begin an example. When you start the refactoring, explain which definition covers it. Then, don’t go all the way to the best solution. Find intermediate steps along the way, which give you a chance to reexplain or find other definitions that are covered. I think this would more closely reflect actual refactoring and would make the refactoring steps easier to follow.
